Play Solana’s PSG1 Launch

The PSG1 is Solana’s first handheld gaming console and is set to launch on October 6. It features gaming-ready hardware, including an octa-core ARM processor, 8GB of RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a touch LCD display. The console also has a built-in crypto wallet and fingerprint security for storing crypto assets while gaming. Play Solana, the team behind the device, has released a limited NFT collection that offers early access and other perks to 2,000 holders.

This launch is part of Solana’s broader aim to introduce consumer products, building on past efforts like the Saga smartphone. Launched in 2022, the Saga was an Android smartphone that provided access to Web3 tools and an app store designed for Solana users. Though it received mixed reactions, the Saga had a successful launch in 2023 and sold for up to $5,000 on eBay, driven by a free airdrop of the BONK memecoin. In 2024, Solana Mobile unveiled a second-generation mobile phone, saying it would not just be a “memecoin phone”. In 2025, the phone had 150,000 pre-orders, with revenue estimated to be at $67.5 million. On Aug. 5, Solana Mobile said it started shipping the Seeker phone in over 50 countries. In parallel, the Sui blockchain is also entering the physical Web3 gaming space with the upcoming SuiPlay0X1 handheld device, expected to launch in the first half of 2025.

The PSG1 marks an important step for Solana in the gaming and crypto hardware space, reflecting the growing intersection of gaming and blockchain technology.
